All you have to do is enable this feature, select the text you want to validate, then validate as normal (i.e. press F6 to validate). If text is selected when you validate, then it will attempt to validate only the selected text. If no text is selected then it validates the entire document as normal.
The option that needs to be enabled if you want to do this is in Editor Options > Miscellaneous. See the screenshot below.
