This is interesting.
An Introduction to htmx, the HTML-focused Dynamic UI Library

But it doesn't validate*. The new "hx-" attributes it uses don't start with "data-".

*It validates if you prefix attributes with "data-", which is allowed but not commonly done.

I suppose this could still be supported in the next major release of CSS HTML Validator.

Anyone interested in htmx? I absolutely like simpler "middle ground" approach, especially given how bloated today's websites are.

What is the uptake on the htmx technology? Are a lot of people using it? Is it growing?

Could be a better approach than some of these strait-jacketing "frameworks" that so many are using.

How does it fit sites that are not single pages?

Good questions. I just learned/heard about htmx recently so uptake is probably not great at this point.

Thanks for that.

For some time I've thought the web has become a disaster zone. Not only are the pages laden with so much rubbish that you can't read the source, but some "developers" have no idea what they're doing (though they know how to "drive" a "framework" or two), and most of what gets delivered is not content for the "user" but surveillance code and nagware.

This approach might be a way to somewhat fix that. I hope so.

It took several years for the current degeneration to set in, so I imagine that recovery (if it happens) would also take a while.

I don't currently have time to get to the heart of this system, but it looks worth a test drive. I might do that.

My suspicion is that "developers" who have learned all sorts of "frameworks" will be reluctant to ditch them, even if for something better!
