Inline Text Semantics

The <var> element marks up a variable. This could be an actual variable in a mathematical expression or computer program, an identifier representing a constant, a function parameter, a term used as a placeholder in prose, etc.

Notes

• Consider MathML for more complicated mathematical expressions, but <var> can still be used to refer to specific variables in MathML expressions.
