Installing & Uninstalling

This topic may be useful to system administrators and to other programs calling the setup and uninstall programs.

Silent Installs

Use these optional command line parameters when calling the CSE HTML Validator setup program.

"/SP-" - Disables the This will install... Do you wish to continue? prompt at the beginning of Setup.

"/SILENT" - The installation wizard and the background window are not displayed but the installation progress window is.

"/VERYSILENT" - Like "/SILENT" but the installation progress window is not displayed either.

"/SUPPRESSMSGBOXES" - Suppresses message boxes. Only has an effect when combined with '/SILENT' and '/VERYSILENT'. This can be used to suppress the 'uninstall' messages for older versions (in this case the older versions will automatically be uninstalled without prompting).

Everything else is normal so installation error messages are displayed as well as the startup prompt (if it hasn't been disabled with the "/SP-" option explained above) If a restart is necessary and the "/NORESTART" command isn't used (see below) and Setup is silent, then it will display a Reboot now? message box. If it's very silent then it will reboot without asking.

"/NOCANCEL" - Prevents the user from cancelling during the installation process by disabling the Cancel button and ignoring clicks on the Close button. Useful along with "/SILENT" or "/VERYSILENT".

"/NORESTART" - Don't reboot even if it's necessary.

/LAUNCH="TRUE" - When doing a silent install (or update), launch the program after installation. (New v15.00)

Silent Uninstalls

Use these optional command line parameters when calling the CSE HTML Validator uninstall program.

"/SILENT" and "/VERYSILENT"- When specified, the uninstaller will not ask the user for startup confirmation or display a message stating that uninstall is complete. Shared files that are no longer in use are deleted automatically without prompting. Any critical error messages will still be shown on the screen. When "/VERYSILENT" is specified, the uninstallation progress window is not displayed. Note that if a restart is necessary and the "/NORESTART" command isn't used (see below) and "/VERYSILENT" is specified, then the uninstaller will reboot without asking.

"/SUPPRESSMSGBOXES" - Suppresses message boxes during uninstall. This parameter only has an effect when combined with "/SILENT" or "/VERYSILENT".

"/NORESTART" - Don't reboot even if it's necessary.

Registration Information

The registration information can be added directly to the registry to avoid the user having to enter it into the program.

The registration information can be added to the registry for the current user by specifying string value names "RegistrationNameV160", "RegistrationPINV160", and "RegistrationKeyV160" in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\AI Internet Solutions\CSE HTML Validator v4".

The registration information can be added to the registry for any user by specifying string value names "RegistrationNameV160", "RegistrationPINV160", and "RegistrationKeyV160" in "HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\AI Internet Solutions\CSE HTML Validator v4". By doing this, different users can logon and use CSE HTML Validator without having to enter registration information each time a different user uses the program.

Portable Installation

A portable installation, that can be run from USB flash drives, is now possible in v10.0132 and later. This is supported in all editions except trial editions. Please note that this is considered a "BETA" feature.
