This is where you set up options that affect one or more of HTML Validator's built-in tools. These tools allow you to perform specific operations on documents. For more information about the available tools, please see the tools topic.
•Convert Text File Format Tool Converts to - Use these radio buttons to select which text file format you want the Convert Text File Format Tool to convert to. You do not have to specify the source file format. Each CR, LF, or CR/LF combination in the source will be regarded as a new line.
•After removing tags, combine adjacent blank lines into a single blank line - Check this box to combine multiple adjacent blank lines into a single blank line when using the Quick Remove Tags Tool. This option is useful because, depending upon the document, this tool can leave many unwanted adjacent blank lines if this option is not set. This option is enabled by default.
•After removing tags, convert character references to actual characters - Check this box to convert character references to actual characters when using the Quick Remove Tags Tool. This option is enabled by default. (New v9.02)
•Default date format - Enter the default date format (also called a format picture string) to use for the variable CURRENTDATE and CURRENTDATE2 when using the template tool. The default is "ddd',' MMM dd yyyy".
•Tools create .bak files - Check this box if you want HTML Validator to leave ".bak" files on your disk when you use a tool. A ".bak" file is the original file renamed with a ".bak" extension. If this box is unchecked, ".bak" files are still created, although they are automatically deleted. This option is enabled by default. WARNING: This is a possible security risk. Uncheck this option if leaving *.bak files could pose a security risk (like when these *.bak files are available through a web server).
